What are the typical steps to get started?
After an initial consultation, and we all decide we like each other, I typically produce a proposal for your approval. A proposal will detail the scope of work, pricing, timeline, and what you will be responsible for. Upon approval, and payment of a deposit, we will secure your place in the schedule. Regular check-ins on the status of your project will be given throughout the process. You are always encouraged to ask questions and request the status of your project at any time.

How do you charge?
How you are charged largely depends on the project, your preference and your needs. Projects are usually fixed bid or billed at a monthly retainer for ongoing work. I work with you to determine what best fits your needs and your project(s). Monthly retainer billing often helps with your cash flow management and keeps your marketing running continuously.

What do you charge for?
I bill for design, photography, photo editing, copywriting, copy editing, strategy meetings (phone or in person), and project management that may include (but not limited to) set up of accounts, emailing, price quotes from 3 party vendors, uploading artwork and more. Printing, website hosting, Constant Contact, stock photos and more are billed separately if not included in a fixed bid. I do not charge for initial consultation, fixing my own mistakes or mistakes of my vendors. (Yes, sometimes things happen.)

What are your billing terms?
Every project is required to have a deposit before work starts. A fixed bid project will have terms detailed in your proposal and retainers are billed every monthly. All invoices are due upon receipt.

Will I get my artwork files?
Yes. Upon final payment of the project, you can request all artwork files.

Will I be able to edit my website?
Yes, but this may determine the platform used to create your site. Please let me know that you want to edit your own site and what you want to edit during the initial consultation. We use Wordpress for client sites where this is a requirement.

The difference between original artwork and .jpg of your logo.
Original artwork in EPS, Illustrator, PDF or other vector file is preferred because it is scaleable without distortion. A JPG image is only scalable if the resolution can handle it, otherwise it gets blurry. If you already have a logo, ask your designer for a vector file of the logo so that it can be used for all things big and small!

Why resolution matters.
If you purchase stock images, take photos yourself or have other images (like a logo), it is preferable to have high resolution files. You can always compress down for the web but compressed images won't look good when printed on your brochure or in your ad. Read more on my blog

That is not the color I chose!
Computer monitors differ widely when they display colors. Many times, just adjusting the brightness/contrast or other monitor settings will change colors dramatically. Be aware that you will not be able to control every detail of your website as a user's monitor and browser can display things differently.

What browsers do you test on?
I test websites on current versions of Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Safari.

How long does it take to see SEO results?
Depending on whether you are launching a new website or updating a current site, SEO results could take 3-12 months to see real results. NO ONE can guarantee first position or any ranking on search engines.
